Training at the Institut Curie

"Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood." Marie Curie

Trainings are an institutional priority at the Institut Curie to meet its objectives of progress in cancer research and treatment.

They aim to promote multidisciplinary research work involving interaction between physicists, biologists, translational research, and clinicians.

An international environment, a spirit of innovation and development of cutting-edge technologies are at the heart of the career development trainings available for people involved in research and medicine at the Institut Curie.

Partnerships with universities

  • In close partnership with several French universities (Paris 5, UPMC, Paris 7, Paris XI, etc., which are associated to Institut Curie research groups) and hospital sites attached to the hospital structure (Paris 5, Versailles-Saint-Quentin), advanced trainings at the Institut Curie make up an original offer of teachings based on the expertise and the fields of excellence of Institut Curie research teams and hospital services. The objective is to rapidly disseminate knowledge and have the largest possible impact.
  • Over 170 students complete a master's degree or a doctoral thesis at the Institut Curie each year. The courses, which are given to masters, doctoral and postdoctoral students from all over the world, are also accessible to Institut Curie staff members.
  • A growing number of students from the medical schools of the Paris 5 (Paris-Descartes) and Versailles-Saint-Quentin universities receive professional training on the hospital sites of the Institut. Around one hundred medical and pharmacy students are hired as interns each year.  A great number of interns who are decided on a career in oncology also benefit from the experience of Institut Curie clinicians in cancer treatment by performing their internship in one of the hospital sites of the Institut Curie.
  • Internships are also an opportunity to start or continue training through research in collaboration with researchers and physicians, who often carry out joint research projects on cancer.

Trainings activities at the Institut Curie are headed by Geneviève Almouzni for the Research Center, and by François Doz for the hospital structure.

Trainings are supported by public funding.
